Earlier this month I released a holiday encounter post with a few ideas that I really liked. I picked my favorite three and put up a quick poll for our patrons. After a bloody voting process, the “not-at-all inspired by Home Alone” encounter won the poll, and is our festive tier 1 D&D adventure this month! Since it’s the last Side Quest of the year as well I wanted to draw an extra-special map for y’all, so please enjoy the final map of 2021: The Yule Shrub Snatch Caper.
For those of you who are new to our blog, welcome! We post a map from our monthly Patreon-exclusive Side Quest, which are short TTRPG encounters that can be easily threaded into an ongoing or one-shot campaign, allowing busy DMs to throw in a random encounter at the drop of a hat. Our Adventurer Level 1 tier grants access to this adventure plus past Side Quests, while our Level 2 tier allows Patrons to pick the game system, theme, and name a character or two in an upcoming Side Quest. We create an adventure & draw a map around their idea that we share on the blog!

Festive Tier 1 D&D Adventure: The Yule Shrub Snatch Caper
A Side Quest for 1st to 4th Level adventurers
Yule is one of the most magical times of year around the city of Chibara. Families join together to celebrate the meaning of the season while snow drifts lazily all around. For others though, Yule is merely an opportunity for personal gain. The disgraced druid known simply as Harvey has devised a plot to fill his pockets with loot. Disguised as a Yule wreath crafter, Harvey enchants the wreaths and grants them a base level of intelligence. These awakened wreaths he then sells to unsuspecting families which animate once the inhabitants leave or go to sleep, granting Harvey access to these homes to take what he pleases. Harvey’s crime spree is near unbroken, except for one little girl named Keeva that noticed the druid’s thieving thickets while her father purchased a wreath. Armed with this knowledge, Keeva not only asks the adventurers for help but also placed some traps of her own.
Ok, this adventure may have be closer to “Home Alone” than I originally intended, but it was still fun to write! Do you think Keeva should have another adventure in the Big Pineapple? I (mostly) kid, but you never know if we’ll see Harvey and his awakened yule wreaths next year. That does it for this month’s Festive Tier 1 D&D Adventure, and I’ll see you all next year! If you liked this Festive Tier 1 D&D Adventure Map, feel free to leave a comment below or drop a comment on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Discord to let us know how it went!
